POST-GAME QUOTESHEET
Pitt vs. DePaul
December 7, 2010
Quoting Head Coach Agnus Berenato
Opening statement:
"Shooting...our shooting percentage (holding up stat sheet). I think that DePaul is a fabulous shooting team and so much that our staff were marking from their first player to their last player. They shoot the ball really well, when you look at their statistics we felt like in the first half we really did a great job on them defensively. How the score be 32-23, we were really working it and we just thought our shots they'll come along, they'll come along, and in the second half it just snowed ball and we played a great majority half with three baskets. We made three baskets and we put in a lot a different kids, a couple prime examples, literally, and you guys were there you saw them, beautiful moves, power moves literally to the basket and the ball went around and dropped out and when the lids on the basket, somehow you half to take the lid off the basket, and I really thought Shayla broke it and hers, you know again, it was a great power move because we just felt we really needed to get inside, again we were still in the game, our defense was really pretty good to keep that as a team, with its average at 84 points, she went up and it was so clean and so pretty and everybody started running back and then everybody just went aww. I think that, to me, it came down to shooting, I think that DePaul is really good team, I wish them well. I'm really sorry that people got hurt, we both had people get hurt and I think that's Big east basketball, and that's competition and its competitive and they were going at us and we were going at them but it was all in the spirit of competition ...The Big East has begun and I'm anxious, I just want to get back into practice."
On preparing for the next Big East game:
"I think that we just have to go back to the drawing board... I have a really great coaching staff and we'll go back to the drawing board and we'll break the thumb down, and DePaul's a good team, I think DePaul's one of the better teams we've seen this year, and we'll learn from this, well take this as a learning experience, but I can't wait for practice."
Quoting Senior Jania Sims
On making an adjustment on Pitt shooting:
"I think we tried to do a lot of things, like you said, the inside and outside wasn't really going, and we had drops on offense but like Coach B said our defense we were trying 55, and 12 , just to get fast breaks and things like that so they couldn't really set up in the zone so, I mean, it just didn't go our way but we tried."
