Ulizio and Rupert Qualify for the Big East Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Md.-Junior Leah Ulizio and freshman Josiah Rupert posted Big East qualifying standards in the first meet of the 2010 outdoor season, as Pitt's javelin and pole vaulters competed in the Maryland Terrapin Invitational on Saturday.
Qualifying for the Big East conference meet, Ulizio recorded a throw of 37.18M in the javelin, placing sixth overall. Freshman Rachael McIntosh placed in the top 10 of the same event.
Earning the highest finish of the day, junior Tory Toso turned in a fifth-place performance in the pole vault. Placing in the top 10, freshman Megan Leake and senior Janelle Adams took eighth and 10th, respectively, in the pole vault.
On the men's side, Rupert qualified for the Big East Championships with an eighth-place performance in the javelin (55.60M).
The Panthers travel to Durham, N.C. for the two-day Duke Invitational on Friday, April 2.
