Pitt Women's Soccer Falls To Ohio 2-0

PITTSBURGH—The Pitt women's soccer team dropped its first game of the season to Ohio 2-0 Sunday at Founders Field. The Panthers record now stands at 1-1-0.
The Panthers were unable to generate a goal despite outshooting the Bobcats 18-9.
Neither team scored in the first half despite the fact that the Panthers held a 12-4 shot advantage.
In the second half, Ohio's Jackie Hanson scored in the 63rd minute after teammate Katie Kemen collected a loose ball and set up Hanson for the goal.
In the 76th minute, the Bobcats added to their lead when Kelsey Pichel fired a shot from 35 yards in the center of the field that sailed over the head of Pitt goalkeeper Morie Kephart. Kemen added the lone assist on the goal to give Ohio a 2-0 lead.
Ohio goalkeeper Mattie Liston stopped all five Pitt shots to record the shutout. Kephart made two saves for the Panthers.
Liz Carroll led the Panthers with five shots while Katelyn Ruhe registered three shots.
The Panthers will have a short five day break before preparing for a home match against Ohio State on Friday August 27th at 7 p.m. at Founders Field.
