Women's Volleyball Hosts George Washington on Tuesday

PITTSBURGH—On a three-match win streak, the University of Pittsburgh women’s volleyball team resumes action, this evening, hosting George Washington at 7 p.m. in Fitzgerald Field House.
Pitt (4-10) is coming off a 3-1 weekend in the Blue and Gold Tournament. The Panthers posted season highs in kills (64) and digs (64) during their thrilling 3-2 win over Bowling Green. Senior Amy Town accounted for a match-high 22 kills, while middle blockers Imani Harper and Kiesha Leggs added 16 and 14 kills, respectively, in the contest.
Earning all-tournament honors, Harper recorded 45 kills, 19 blocks, 10 digs and two aces on the weekend. Also named to the all-tournament team was Leggs who turned in 33 kills and eight blocks in the four matches.
In the Panthers latest win over St. Francis (Pa.), Town led the way with 21 kills as she boasts a team-high 171 kills to date. Defensively, sophomore Margy Acton had a big night with a match-high 21 digs. Acton collected 62 digs in four matches for a 4.13 dig per set average in tournament play.
George Washington (9-5) is currently ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 3-2 record on the road. The Colonials are coming off a 3-0 win over Princeton.
This will be the 12th time the two schools have met. The Panthers lead the all-time series 8-3 and hold a 4-1 mark at home against the Colonials. History between Pitt and George Washington dates back as far as 1977. The last meeting between the two teams resulted in a 3-0 win for the Panthers in 2002.
