PITTSBURGH - The Pitt women's soccer team will host a pair of Big East matches this week at Ambrose Urbanic Field at the Petersen Sports Complex. The Panthers will play Syracuse on Friday at 7 p.m. and St. John's on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Pitt enters play with an overall record of 1-9-4 and a conference mark of 0-4-2 after losing two contests on the road this past weekend.
Syracuse has won its last three matches - all in the Big East - to improve to 5-4-3 overall and 4-2-0 in the conference. The Panthers and Orange played to a 1-1 tie in last season's match.
Pitt head coach Sue-Moy Chin has had success against Syracuse. She is 3-1-3 all-time against the Orange, including a 1-0 win in 2009. Syracuse's last win in the series was on Sept. 25, 2008 by a 1-0 score.
The Panthers' match with the Orange will stream live online on Pitt Panthers Television. It will re-air on Comcast channel 188 or 210 on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 11:30 a.m.
St. John's is tied with Syracuse for third in the American Division, boasting records of 8-4-1 and 4-2-0. The Red Storm has won each of the past two matchups with the Panthers by scores of 1-0. Pitt's last win was on Sept. 28, 2008.
Ashley Cuba scored Pitt's lone goal in a 3-1 loss at Villanova on Friday, moving her into a tie for second-place on Pitt's all-time scoring list. She needs just one more goal to tie Ashley Habbel (2006-09) for first.
