Syracuse Tops Panthers, 3-0

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to visiting Syracuse on Friday at Ambrose Urbanic Field at the Petersen Sports Complex.
The Panthers fall to 1-10-4 overall and 0-5-2 in the Big East. It was the fourth win in a row for the Orange, who improve to 6-4-3 and 5-2-0.
Rosina Callisto, Tina Romagnuolo and Brittany Kindmon scored goals for Syracuse. The Orange matched the Panthers in shots with nine, but posted a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.
The first half goals by Callisto and Romagnuolo were nearly identical. Both were unassisted and were shot from 25-30 yards out, beating the goalie in the top corner. Callisto's goal came in the 21st minute, while Romagnuolo scored in the 39th minute.
Abby Baldys had a scoring opportunity for the Panthers in the 26th minute. Her shot from the right corner of the box beat the Syracuse goalie, but an Orange defender made a great play, blocking the shot in front of the net.
Kindmon scored her second goal of the season in the 79th minute to finish the scoring. Casey Ramirez tallied the lone assist of the match.
Brittany Anghel made four saves to record the shutout for Syracuse. Kristina Rioux and Nicole D'Agostino split time in net for Pitt. Rioux started the game and made one save, while D'Agostino started the second half and had two saves.
The Panthers will host Big East foe St. John's on Sunday. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
