Jermaine Lowery Qualifies for the NCAA Championships

PITTSBURGH - Setting a personal best time in the 400M hurdles, junior Jermaine Lowery qualified for the NCAA Championships on Friday at the Regions competition in Bloomington, Ind.
Lowery reached the quarterfinal round with a qualifying time of 51.21 in the event. Competing as one of the top-24 qualifiers, Lowery set a personal best time of 50.66 to finish seventh overall. The top 12 performers move on to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. The Championships begin on June 8 and conclude on the 11th.
On the women's side, junior Cambrya Jones advanced to the quarterfinals in the 200M dash. Jones had the seventh best qualifying time (23.51) in the preliminaries. She will look to join Lowery when she competes in the quarterfinals, tomorrow.
In other action, junior Dontave Cowsette finished just shy of a qualifying spot in the quarterfinals, turning a in a 1:52.09 performance in the 800M run.
Freshmen Reginald Steele IV and Micah Murray posted strong results in the long jump and 400M dash, respectively. Steele finished 10th in his heat with a 7.04m mark. Meanwhile, Murray - who was a late addition to the field - crossed the finish line at 48.65.
Sophomore Tashaun Hill finished 27th overall in the 110M hurdles, sprinting to a 14.43 finish.
Jones and sophomore Ashley Woodford ran identical 11.82 marks in the 100M dash. The two will join seniors Da'Lynn Mills and Lanesha Pugh for the 4x100 relay which begins on Saturday.
In her NCAA Regional debut, freshman Jessica Rocco finished 34th in the javelin with a toss of 41.32m.
Action continues tomorrow from the campus of Indiana University.
