PITTSBURGH--Daphne Corboz scored five goals and Kaitlin Brenn added two goals and two assists as No. 11 Georgetown registered an 8-0 victory over the Pitt women's soccer team Sunday at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Pitt drops to 5-9-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the Big East while the Hoyas improve to 11-1-1 overall and 5-0-0 in the Big East.
Corboz scored two of her five goals in the first three minutes, giving Georgetown a quick 2-0 lead. Her first came in the second minute after she received a pass from Brenn and sent a shot into the goal's lower right corner. Her second came in the third minute after she gathered the ball and hit a shot inside the far post.
Georgetown went up 3-0 in the 14th minute when Brenn scored on a corner kick. Brenn added her second goal in the 29th minute when she intercepted a pass and finished in the lower left corner. Georgetown took a 5-0 lead at halftime on Corboz' third goal in the 32nd minute.
The Hoyas added three more goals in the second half including two from Corboz (47:46 minute and 69:56 minute) and one on a corner kick header by Mary Kroening.
Pitt is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 4 at Syracuse then travels to St. John's on Sunday, Oct. 7. Pitt's final two regular season games are at home against Connecticut (Oct. 11) and Providence (Oct. 14).
