Panthers Look to Continue Home Winning Streak vs. Ball State

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team looks to extend its five game home winning streak on Thursday evening when the Panthers host Ball State at the Petersen Events Center with tip set for 7 p.m.
Pitt enters Thursday's game with an overall record of 6-3, while Ball State is 4-4 on the season. Both teams are coming off victories as Pitt defeated Drexel 72-53 on Sunday and the Cardinals topped Charlotte 76-66 on Monday. Thursday's game will be a rematch of last season when Pitt defeated Ball State 63-58 in Muncie, Ind.
GAME 100:
Brianna Kiesel will be making her 100th career appearance for the Panthers on Thursday. Kiesel has started every game of her career and she has a career scoring average of 15.1 points. She needs just three points against Ball State to reach 1,500 career points and she currently ranks eighth on Pitt's all-time scoring list.
A career 78.5 percent free throw shooter, Kiesel has been consistently moving up the ACC ranks this season and is currently fourth in FT percentage at 87.5 percent. She is 34-for-39 this season at the line and has made her last 13 attempts dating back to November 30 vs. Loyola.
FIVE STRAIGHT DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORING GAMES FOR WIGNOT:
Senior forward Monica Wignot has tallied five straight games of scoring in double figures. During her current stretch, she is averaging 15.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 4.0 blocks per game. Wignot is third in the ACC in blocks per game at 3.3 a contest. She has had at least one rejection in every game this season.
DIOP CONTINUES HER HOT SHOOTING:
Freshman forward Yacine Diop has found her groove as of late and is averaging 16.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in her last three outings. She is shooting 69.6 percent during that stretch and has made 16 of her last 20 shots. Diop continues to raise her average and is now at 8.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the season.
SCOUTING BALL STATE:
The Cardinals had four players score in double figures in their win on Monday night vs. Charlotte and were led by Nathalie Fontaine with 18 points. Fontaine is the team's leading scoring and rebounder at 16.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest. The Cardinals have yet to put together back-to-back wins as they have followed up every victory with a defeat through their first eight games.
