
Women's Soccer Hits Road for Two Weekend Matches

BOSTON—The Pitt women’s soccer team begins a stretch of three consecutive ACC road matches, including two this weekend: at Boston College (Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.) and at Syracuse (Sunday, Sept. 28 at noon).
Pitt enters the weekend with a 4-5-0 overall and 0-1-0 ACC record. The youthful Panthers sport a 28-player roster with 23 freshmen and sophomores. Through five matches, junior Roosa Arvas leads the Panthers in both points (seven) and goals (three), freshman Taylor Pryce has two goals and five points and freshman Hanna Hannesdottir has a goal and two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Francis, who made a career-high 13 saves in the ACC opener vs. Duke, has a 0.99 goals against average and has made 45 saves in 819 minutes of action. Pitt has allowed only nine goals and 112 shots in nine matches this year.
Thursday’s Boston College match was moved to Harvard University. Kickoff is now at 8 p.m. ET. Pitt plays Boston College (7-3-1, 0-1-0 ACC) for the seventh time in women’s soccer history. Stephanie McCaffery leads the Eagles in points as she has notched six goals and six assists for 18 points. Hayley Dowd is second with 16 points (six goals, four assists).
Pitt faces Syracuse (3-4-3, 0-1-0 ACC) for the 17th time in women’s soccer. Syracuse will enter the Sunday match after playing at Miami on Thursday. The Orange will have played seven straight road matches. Stephanie Skilton leads the Orange with 13 points (six goals/one assist), while Alex Lamontagne (seven points) and Maya Pitts (six points) are also top producers.
Following this weekend, Pitt returns to the road to play at North Carolina State on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. ET.
