
Pitt Travels to Face Princeton on Saturday

PITTSBURGH – Playing its final non-conference road game of the regular season, the University of Pittsburgh women’s basketball team travels to the Garden State to face RV/RV Princeton on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
The Panthers (6-3) enter the contest looking for their third straight victory, while Princeton (7-1) has won five in a row and is receiving votes in both the AP and Coaches polls.
Saturday’s contest will be a rematch from the opening game of the 2014-15 season in Pittsburgh that went in favor of the Tigers. Both teams would go on to reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Dating back to last season, Princeton is 38-2 in its last 40 games.
WALTERS’ DOUBLE DIGIT EFFORTS:
Through nine career games, freshman forward Kalista Walters has reached double figures in six of those contests. She is the team’s leading scorer at 12.4 points per game which ranks her 23rd overall in the ACC and third amongst freshmen (Destinee Walker, UNC – 16.0 ppg, Marina Mabrey, ND – 13.4).
Most impressively, Walters is shooting 58.5 percent from the floor, ranking her fourth in the ACC overall. In her last two games, she is shooting 65 percent and has averaged 14.5 points per game.
CREATING TURNOVERS:
The Panthers are forcing 19.9 turnovers per game. Pitt has forced at least 20 turnovers in five games this season, including the last time out in which Pitt turned Mount St. Mary’s over 25 times.
SCOUTING PRINCETON:
The Tigers finished last season at 31-1 and are off to another fast start this year. Michelle Miller is leading three players in double figures at 15.1 points per game, followed by Annie Tarakchain (14.1) and Alex Wheatley (11.4). Tarakchain is also the team’s leading rebounder at 9.4 per game.
