
Pitt Hosts American on Tuesday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women’s basketball team is set to host American University on Tuesday afternoon at the Petersen Events Center.
Coming off a 31 point victory over Rider on Sunday afternoon, the Panthers enter the contest with an overall record of 7-4. American is 2-8 but has won its last two games.
RECAPPING RIDER:
Pitt had four players score in double figures against Rider on Sunday, led by freshman Kalista Walters and sophomore Yacine Diop who each had 16. Stasha Carey added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Brenna Wise chipped in with 10 points. For Carey, it was her first double-double of the season and the eighth of her career.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE:
The Panthers are a perfect 5-0 at the Petersen Events Center this season. Dating back to last year, Pitt has an overall record of 20-3 at home.
SCOUTING AMERICAN:
After opening the season with eight straight losses, American has since won its last two games against Dartmouth and Manhattan. Senior Michelle Holmes leads the team in scoring (10.7) and rebounding (8.2).
UP NEXT:
The Panthers will finish the non-conference schedule next Wednesday, December 30, in the annual City Game against Duquesne. The Dukes just upset No. 25 St. Johns and currently have an overall record of 11-1.
