
Offutt to Compete at 2015 NCAA Gymnastics Regional Meet

PITTSBURGH -- University of Pittsburgh gymnast Lindsay Offutt is set to compete at the 2015 NCAA Regional meet Saturday, April 4 after receiving an individual bid on beam. The Morgantown Regional, hosted by West Virginia, is set to begin at 4 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum.
Offutt will rotate with West Virginia, who begins the meet on floor, which means she will have to wait until the fifth rotation to compete on her individual apparatus.
The junior qualified to compete at regionals after a standout season on beam, which led to 9.865 regional qualifying score (RQS) that tied her at 43rd nationally.
At the EAGL Championship meet Offutt was named the outright champion on the event after posting a 9.950. This was a new career high and the second highest beam score in Pitt program history. She also earned four other first place finishes on the event throughout the season
MAKING HER MARK
The junior notched five individual titles on beam throughout the 2015 season, earning her a spot in the all-time top individual scores in the Panther record book. Offutt was named First Team All-EAGL and First Team All-Tournament on beam.
Entering regionals, Offutt stands first in the EAGL and fifth in the region on beam. She also ranks tied for 43rd in the nation.
Not only is Offutt impressive on beam, but floor as well as she has claimed first place on multiple occasions this season. She also participated in the all-around this season, posting a career high 39.225 against North Carolina on March 7. She cruised past three UNC gymnasts to take the title.
OFFUTT AND LAYMON CHOSEN AS EVENT ALTERNATES
Offutt, on top of being chosen to compete on beam, will also be an alternate on floor. Freshman Taylor Laymon was chosen as the alternate on bars.
