Pitt Takes to Syracuse Sunday Afternoon

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team will travel to Syracuse, N.Y., Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. tilt with the Orange in ACC action.
The Panthers are coming off of their first league win of the season as they downed Miami in a double-overtime thriller Sunday at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

LEADING OFF
- Pitt (2-11-1, 1-5-0 ACC) travels to New York to square off with Syracuse (7-5-3, 0-4-2 ACC) Sunday afternoon
- Pitt enters the game after earning its first ACC victory of the season, knocking off Miami by a score of 1-0 in double overtime
- The victory for the Panthers snapped a nine-game losing streak dating back to an Aug. 28 win over Xavier
- Hannah Hannesdottir converted a penalty kick midway through the second overtime against the Hurricanes to send the Panthers to victory
SCOUTING SYRACUSE
- Syracuse enters the contest with a mark of 7-5-3, in search of its first ACC win of the season, sitting at 0-4-2
- The Orange snapped a four-game skid Sunday afternoon against national powerhouse Florida State, earning a 1-1 tie with the reigning ACC champion Seminoles
- Eva Gordon and Stephanie Skilton pace the Orange offense, each recording three goals and an assist for seven points
- Goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan has earned the start in each of the team's 15 outings, recording a 1.16 GAA and .791 save percentage
SERIES WITH SYRACUSE
- This will be the 19th meeting all-time between the two programs in a series dating back to the inaugural 1996 season
- Syracuse holds the 10-5-3 all-time advantage, but Pitt has out-battled ACC meetings, competing to a 2-1-0 mark since joining the league in 2013
- The Panthers have won the last two outings, including last season's 1-0 OT decision in Pittsburgh\
UP NEXT
- The Panthers will return home to Ambrose Urbanic Field to close out home action, hosting North Carolina (Oct. 20) and Duke (Oct. 23)
- The afternoon meeting with Duke will serve as Senior Day for Pitt's four seniors
- Pitt will conclude the regular season on Oct. 27, traveling to Cary, N.C., for a 7 p.m. meeting with the Wolfpack of NC State
