Panthers Face Tough Test at No. 8 Virginia

LEADING OFF
- Pitt (1-10-1, 0-4-0 ACC) will hit the road to battle with its third consecutive ranked opponent, traveling to Charlottesville, Va., for a 7 p.m. meeting with No. 8 Virginia (8-2-2, 1-1-2 ACC)
- The Panthers enter the afternoon after a 2-0 setback against then second-ranked Florida State at Ambrose Urbanic Field on Saturday
- Pitt is in search of its first ACC victory of the season as it has fallen in the previous four conference outings to open 2016 league play
SCOUTING VIRGINIA
- The Cavaliers have competed to 1-1 overtime draws in each of their last two games after opening league play with a 2-0 decision over Virginia Tech and a 2-1 loss at the hands of Miami
- Virginia opened the season on a seven-game win-streak before falling to Georgetown on Sept. 11 for its first loss of the year
- The stingy Virginia defense has allowed just seven goals all season and just two in the final 40 minutes of play, however four of those goals have come in ACC play in the last four outings
- Veronica Latsko leads the Cavalier offense with seven goals and three assists for 17 total points, while Alexis Shaffer has netted five goals
- Keeper Morgan Stearns has earned the start in each of Virginia's 12 games this season, playing in 1074:41 total minutes to record a 0.59 GAA
SERIES WITH VIRGINIA
- This will be the fourth meeting between the two squads in a series dating back to the 2013 season when the Panthers joined the ACC
- Virginia holds the 3-0-0 all-time advantage and has outscored the Panthers 15-2 in the last three games
- Pitt was shutout 6-0 at home last season against the Cavaliers and 6-1 in the last battle at Virginia

- The Panthers will return home on Sunday, squaring off with Miami (FL) in a 1 p.m. matchup from Ambrose Urbanic Field
