PITTSBURGH - Pitt women's basketball (4-0, 0-0 ACC) will try to extend its best start to a season since 2009-10 when it welcomes Slippery Rock (3-1, 1-1 PSAC) for a 2 p.m. ET game at Petersen Events Center Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Brenna Wise recorded the ninth double-double of her career with 14 points and 10 rebounds as Pitt reached its best start since 2009-10, defeating Loyola Maryland (2-3), 74-44, at Petersen Events Center Monday night. All five starters posted double figures in the scoring column, led by sophomore Kauai Bradley who tied her career high with 16 points. She added a career-high six assists. Graduate transfer Brandi Harvey-Carr had her second consecutive game of 10 points or more, scoring 12. Junior Aysia Bugg had 11 points and six assists while freshman Jasmine Whitney had 10 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists.
SCOUTING THE GREEN AND WHITE
Slippery Rock has won three of four games to start the 2016-17 season, including a 72-65 win over Kutztown last time out (Nov. 20). Senior guard Lexi Carpenter is SRU's leader in points per game (16.8) and assists per game (4.3).
The Panthers own a 9-5 lead in the all-time series with SRU, and the teams have not met since a 72-53 win in Pittsburgh on Feb. 8, 1981.
