PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team topped Texas Woman’s University, 194.375-192.550, Saturday afternoon at the Fitzgerald Field House to earn its fifth win of the season.
The Panthers (5-11) put up a season-high 48.700 on vault, a 48.700 on bars, 48 flat on beam and their highest score of a 48.975 on floor. Pitt outscored the Pioneers (5-11) on all events except beam.
The Panthers earned 15 top-five finishes, including earning the top-three spots on bars and beam.
Pitt was led by junior Tracey Pearson, who had an outstanding meet, finishing first in the all-around with a career-high 39.175. Pearson placed first on beam with a 9.875, tied for the top spot on floor with a 9.850 and finished third on beam with a 9.800. The all-arounder concluded the meet with career-high scores on vault and beam and tied her career high on bars in addition to her all-around score.
Senior Miya Dotson also had a tremendous meet, tying with Pearson on floor, while winning bars outright. Dotson’s floor score of a 9.850 was one of two career-high scores, her second coming on vault (9.775) where she tied for third.
Standout senior Lindsay Offutt rounded out the first-place finishes for Pitt, taking home the beam title with a whopping 9.925, while tying her season-high. The closest anyone would come to touching Offutt’s score was a 9.875 by junior Kelly Burak, who finished second. Offutt also placed third on bars (9.825) and fourth on floor (9.800).

MEET RUNDOWN
Pitt began the afternoon on vault, scoring its highest total of the season of a 48.700. Along with Pearson’s top finish, Dotson and junior Erika Reichert finished tied for third overall. The gymnasts posted a 9.775, which was a career-high post for Reichert.
The Panthers’ bar lineup also finished with a 48.700, and saw the top three finishers in the event. In between Dotson and Offutt fell sophomore Taylor Laymon in second place with a 9.825.
Pitt concluded beam with a 48 flat. Following the top three finishers in Offutt, Burak and Pearson, TWU took the next four spots in the results.
The Panthers earned first, second, fourth and fifth on floor, after the team put together an impressive 48.975 on the event. Freshman Brittany West was the other top-five finisher in addition to Dotson, Pearson and Offutt, putting up a season-best 9.750 to place fourth.
Placing second to Pearson in the all-around was Offutt with a 39.075
UP NEXT
Pitt will continue action on Feb. 27, when they head to Ohio State to take on the Buckeyes and Eastern Michigan.
