Panthers Finish Third in Ohio State Tri-Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team finished third Saturday evening in Columbus, Ohio falling to Ohio State and Eastern Michigan.
"The kids had a great first half," head coach Debbie Yohman said. "Everyone, including exhibition, hit solid on bars and beam. We were really happy with the first half results even though the scores were really tight."
"In the second half we had some disappointing problems on floor, but were able to pull it back together to tie our season high on vault," Yohman said.
The Panthers scored an overall total of 193.450 but it wasn't enough as both the Buckeyes and Eagles finished with a 195.800.
Senior Lindsay Offutt finished fourth overall in the all-around with a 39.000, which marked Pitt's highest finish in the meet. Offutt and junior Tracey Pearson tied for fifth overall on beam (9.750).

MEET RUNDOWN
Pitt began the meet on bars, scoring a 48.675. Offutt posted the Panthers' high score, a 9.800, while sophomore Taylor Laymon and Dotson followed with a 9.775. Senior Tiara Chadran put up a career-best 9.725 on the event.
Beam was Pitt's second event of the afternoon and the Panthers finished with a 48.575. Behind Offutt and Pearson fell senior Lisa Soto who returned to the lineup for the first time since Jan. 16. Soto posted a 9.725. Junior Erika Reichert scored a season-best score of 9.675.
Pitt struggled on floor putting together an event score of 47.500. The Panthers' top score was a 9.700, posted by Offutt.
Vault turned out to be Pitt's best event of the night as the Panthers tied their season-high score of 48.700. Reichert tied her career-best 9.775 to lead Pitt. Freshmen Brittany West and Kensleigh Owens also notched season-best scores with a 9.725 and 9.700 respectively.
In addition to Offutt, Pearson completed the all-around with a 38.000.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will remain on the road as they head to College Park, Md. for a meet against Yale, George Washington, Texas Woman's University and host Maryland.
