#17 Panthers Fall to #10 Hokies

PITTSBURGH - The 17th-ranked Pitt wrestling team fell to No. 10 Virginia Tech in a Friday night ACC matchup at the Fitzgerald Field House. The Hokies won the dual 28-7.
The Panthers suffered their third straight loss, all of which came from opponents ranked within the top 10.
"Virginia Tech has a good team," head coach Jason Peters said. "We battled in some weights and in others we need a little more hustle on bottom. If you want to beat a good team, you need more of a fight in a few different weights. We'll be back to the drawing board tomorrow to get ready for West Virginia on Sunday."
Sophomore Dom Forys (133) continued his winning ways as he defeated the 2014 ACC Champion Dennis Gustafson in a 14-4 major decision. Forys never trailed in his match.
Redshirt sophomore Cody Wiercioch (165) returned to the win column tonight as he upset Virginia Tech's 11th-ranked David McFadden in a 7-6 decision.
The Panthers have a quick turnaround as they head to Morgantown, W.Va., Sunday, Feb. 7 for a 1 p.m. dual with the Mountaineers.
