MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

PITTSBURGH - Sophomore Gillian Schriever posted the first individual win of her Pitt cross country career as the Panther women and men swept the Tommy Evans Invitational in Norton, Ohio, Friday night.

AT THE FINISH LINE

Schriever claimed the win at 17:53.3, just under one second off her personal best in the 5K. Since the race was the first held at Silver Creek Metro Park, her time counted as the course record.
Aaron Lauer was Pitt's top finisher on the men's side, runner-up at 20:06.7 in the four-mile race.
The women's squad swept the top five spots of the race, while the men claimed three of top five and five of the top 10.

COACHES' CORNER

"It was Gillian's [Schriever] first race of the year so she's picking up where she left off last track season, which is a good thing," women's coach Adam Bray said. "It's always a good thing to win. She's super talented and she showed it on the course today. It actually means a lot to me because I went to Akron and this is a brand new course that opened up so for her to get the win, it means a lot."
"We're getting closer to putting a full squad out there and I was very pleased with how they competed," men's coach Bryan Jackson said. "A lot of them still don't have their racing legs under them because we've been working so hard throughout the week. But they came out here and competed hard. We got the win and we walked away with some stuff we that we still need to work on."

LOOKING AHEAD

The women's team will travel 40 miles east to Latrobe, Pa., for the St. Vincent Invitational Saturday, Sept. 17. The 6K race is set to start at 10:45 a.m. ET.
The men and women will both be in action at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., Saturday, Sept. 24. The men's 8K will start at 1:20 p.m. ET and the women's 6K will start at 2:35 p.m. ET.
