Panthers Post Runner-Up Finish at St. Vincent Invitational

RESULTS

LATROBE, Pa. - Junior Rebecca Peters recorded the best finish of her University of Pittsburgh career, taking fourth place in the 6K race at the St. Vincent Invitational in Latrobe, Pa., Saturday morning.

As a team, the Panther women took second place with 49 points, just five behind winner Allegheny. It was Pit's first 6K race of the 2016 season.

AT THE FINISH LINE

Peters led the Panthers at 23:36 in the 6K, making the first top-5 finish of her career. Caroline DeFrank followed in fifth place at 23:46.
Three more Panthers recorded career best finishes: Emily Loeffelholz (11th, 24:10), Natalie Vidacs (14th, 24:18) and Erin Keelan (18th, 24:30).

COACH'S CORNER

"Today I thought the women that raced competed really well," coach Adam Bray "We always try to give our athletes opportunities to compete and today our ladies took advantage of that. Rebecca Peters and Caroline DeFrank ran towards the front of the race from the start. Those two plus many others continue to impress me as we make our way through the season."

LOOKING AHEAD

The men and women will both be in action at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., Saturday, Sept. 24. The men's 8K will start at 1:20 p.m. ET and the women's 6K will start at 2:35 p.m. ET.
