Pitt Opens ACC Play with Louisville

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women soccer team will commence its 10-game conference schedule at home on Saturday, hosting Louisville at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Kick off for the Panthers' ACC opener against the Cardinals is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.

LEADING OFF
- Pitt (1-6-1) returned home from a three-game road swing to battle Kent State last Sunday, falling to the Golden Flashes by a score of 2-1 in double overtime
- Junior defender Niki Hopkins' goal versus Kent State was the second goal by a defender this year as sophomore Alli Higgs tallied versus Michigan in the season opener
- Last season, Pitt won its ACC home opener 2-0 versus N.C. State and carried the momentum into a 3-0-0 start in conference play
SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
- Louisville (5-2-1) has won four of its past six games, with the most recent victory a 2-1 showing against Belmont
- The Cards have scored an average of 2.4 goals per game, while allowing just 0.9 goals per match
- Louisville hasn't left its home field of Lynn Stadium for almost a month, as only one of its eight games was a road contest, a 1-1 draw at Indiana back on Aug. 19
- Freshman forward Brooklynn Rivers has paced the Cards' offense with a team-leading four goals and 10 points
- Senior goalkeeper Taylor Bucklin has started all eight games this season, compiling a .86 goals against average and a .615 save percentage
SERIES WITH LOUISVILLE
- The Saturday night matchup will be the seventh meeting between the two schools in a series dating back to the 2006 season
- The former Big East counterparts have linked up twice since aligning to the ACC, as each side has grabbed a victory
- Pitt is 2-4-0 all-time versus the Cardinals, with a mark of 0-2-0 record at home in the matchup
