- Pitt (1-4-1) will look to turn around their season against a formidable Kansas (3-2-1) squad who has gone 3-1-1 at home this season
- Three of Pitt's four goals on the season have come from freshman Alex Wright, who will look to lead the Panther offense against its first Big 12 opponent since 2008
- Pitt is 1-4-0 against Big 12 opponents all time, claiming the lone victory over Iowa State in 2008
- Kansas is coming off a 2-1 victory against Valparaiso with its two losses coming against quality Big 10 opponents in Minnesota and Nebraska, both by a one goal margin
SCOUTING KANSAS
- The Jayhawks are 3-2-1 on the year, having topped Marquette, Colorado and Valparaiso, while drawing with South Dakota State
- Kansas has outscored opponents 4-1 in the first half of games, totaling six goals while allowing five
- Sophomore midfielder Grace Hagan is the team's leading scorer with two goals and five points, while a pair of freshmen in midfielder Katie McClure and forward Mandi Duggan each have two goals and four points
- Redshirt junior Maddie Dobyns took the reins in goal for Kansas in 2015 and has allowed five goals in six games; good enough for a .78 GAA and a .783 save percentage this season
SERIES WITH KANSAS
- The Friday night matchup is the first meeting between the two schools
- Aside from West Virginia, who they battled with often as former Big East combatants, Pitt has only met Iowa State, Baylor and Texas in regular season play, as well as former Big 12 member Colorado
