PITTSBURGH – The 23rd-ranked Pitt wrestling team improved to 7-2 on the season Saturday afternoon at the annual Pitt Duals. The Panthers took down Franklin & Marshall, Davidson and Bloomsburg in the Fitzgerald Field House.
Pitt welcomed 12 teams to the event including Binghamton, Bloomsburg, Brown, Columbia, Davidson, Edinboro, Franklin & Marshall, No. 10 NC State, Rider, VMI and West Virginia.
The Panthers shutout their first opponent, Franklin & Marshall, 46-0, and followed that with another shutout over Davidson, 45-0. Pitt closed out the day with a 32-6 win over Bloomsburg.
Through the three duals, Pitt racked up 123 points thanks to two pins, nine technical falls and three major decisions. Three of the nine technical falls came from sophomore TeShan Campbell at 165 pounds.
The Panthers open ACC competition Friday, Jan. 20 at Virginia Tech and will then make the short trip to VMI the following day.
