Opening Statement:
"Any win in the ACC is a great win, because of how competitive our conference is and the level of play. I thought our players did a great job the last couple of days, buying into how we needed to defend their offense and who we needed to key on. Kelly Hughes and Mariella Fasoula are two really good players who we needed to contain and respect everyone else. I thought right from the beginning of the game that we defended very well, and offensively something that we have been working on is our movement, ball reversal, and where our shots are coming from. We continued to play out of our quick hitters, and tonight I thought we had good ball movement which allowed the offense to work. I can't speak enough about the two players sitting here with me. Kalista Walters was huge tonight coming off the bench. Players have the opportunity to extend minutes once they get on the floor, and she certainly did that. She was a key factor scoring, defense, rebounding, getting her hands on balls. She was just all over the court, and is a big reason that we are sitting here victorious tonight, and she impacted the game for the entire time she was on the court. Kauai Bradley embraced the role of coming off the bench, and hit three huge threes tonight for us, timely plays. I think it was a result of our ball movement, our player movement, and continuing to play out of things, and they were three huge threes to stretch the lead. We got contributions from everyone. We got to the free throw line, and were 17 out of 19 from the free throw line, and we were able to out rebound Boston College. We got contributions from Brenna Wise, Aysia Bugg, Jasmine Whitney handling the basketball, and executing the offense. I am very proud of how we responded after a tough loss, and the way we lost to Miami."
On the team's response the next game after losing to Miami:
"I think after every game, whether you win or lose, you have to put it behind you. You learn from it, and focus on the next game. We have been focusing on our opponent a lot, and I think going into this game it has been more about us, and what we need to do offensively. We didn't light up the scoreboard scoring 56 points, and would like to score more, but with time of playing at a high pace and being able to handle pressure. The teams we are playing against are going to come at us. We need to be able to continue to handle the ball. We need that continued balance. When you have a shooter that can knock down three threes, and you have an inside presence, and have two double figure scorers, Kalista with 19, and Brenna with 15. When you have two post players scoring you need that guard play to balance that, or they will sit on top of them the entire game. I think our movement came into play tonight. I think you put that game behind, and you regroup, and focus on the things you need to do moving forward. Not only did we have a game plan defensively but offensively, and how we were going to attack them. As Kalista mentioned how they defended on ball screens, bringing their post away from the basket. I think they are so strong, and long that we needed to bring them away from the basket and involve them in screening action."
