Pitt Falls to Orange, 2-0
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team fell to Syracuse Thursday afternoon, dropping a 2-0 decision to Syracuse at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
"Other than digging ourselves into a hole in the first few minutes of the game and then giving up a second goal, I credit our kids for not giving up," said head coach Greg Miller. "I thought we finished the first half strong and were pushing back. We played a great second half. Their goalkeeper had some unbelievable saves, but we have to do a better job of finishing on those chances. At the end of the day I think we just dug ourselves too deep of a hole, but we never stopped fighting and that's a positive moving forward."
Syracuse would strike early, netting a goal in the fifth minute to take an early 1-0 lead. In the 25th minute, the Orange would make it 2-0, as neither team would find the back of the net for the remainder of the contest.
Offensively, the Panther out-shot the Orange 15-8, with eight on goal, compared to four for Syracuse. Sarah Krause led the way with three shots, two on goal, while Vildan Kardesler added two shots, both on goal.
In net, Katelyn McEachern was forced to make two saves, as Syracuse's Courtney Brosnan recorded eight. With the loss, Pitt falls to 3-7-3 (0-4-1 ACC).
