PHILADELPHIA - Visiting Temple for the first time since the 1991 season, the University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team took second in a quad meet, earning a team score of 193.525.
Pitt (4-4, 0-2 EAGL) defeated West Chester (191.675) and Ursinus College (190.850), but fell to host Temple (193.950).
BEAM
The Panthers kicked the afternoon off on beam, posting a team score of 48.500, their highest of the season. Pitt was led by Brittany West, who earned a score of 9.800 to earn the individual title. Kelly Burak posted a score of 9.775 to take second, while Lucy Brett claimed a 9.725 to tie for fourth.
FLOOR
Pitt continued its consistency on floor, earning a team score of 48.875, their highest mark since earning a 48.900 in the season-opener against Ohio State. Tracey Pearson and Dani Hall earned scores of 9.825 to pace the Panthers and finish in a tie for second place. Freshman Alecia Petrikis tied for fourth with a 9.775, while scores of 9.725 from both Erika Reichert and Taylor Laymon earned the duo sixth place.
VAULT
On vault, Pitt recorded a 48.775, their highest score of the season. Pearson and Meagan Oscar led the way, tying for first with scores of 9.800. In a tie for second, West earned a 9.775. Ellie Pikula tied for fourth with a 9.725, while Charli Spivey and Krista Collins tied for fifth with scores of 9.675.
BARS
The Panthers concluded the afternoon on bars, earning a 47.375. Hall paced the Panthers with a 9.675 to tie for third. Pearson and Collins tied for fourth with scores of 9.650 while Laymon took ninth with a 9.450.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will head to EAGL rival NC State for a quad-meet with the Wolfpack, William & Mary and North Carolina. Pitt will follow that up with a five-team meet in the nation's capital, as the Panthers will square off with George Washington, Iowa, William & Mary and Maryland.
