Panthers to Support Go4theGoal Thursday
PITTSBURGH – In conjunction with Thursday's ACC home opener, the University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team will Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer, supporting the Go4theGoal Foundation in its quest to end pediatric cancer.
The Panthers will sport yellow shoelaces, obtained through the Go4theGoal Foundation, which donates $4 for each pair purchased. Additionally, materials will be on hand for fans to learn more about the foundation, which aims "to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing financial support, developing and implementing unique hospital programs, funding innovative research and granting personal wishes."
"It was an easy decision to take part in the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer initiative," said head coach Greg Miller. "The organization does a phenomenal job of raising funds and awareness in the fight against pediatric cancer. Nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and we are honored to be able to join in the fight against the disease."
The Panthers are set to face off with Virginia Tech in the first home contest since opening ACC play. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Ambrose Urbanic Field.
The women's soccer team joins Pitt baseball and softball, both of which participated in Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer last season. For more information, or to donate, visit the Go4theGoal Foundation.
In addition to the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer event, the first 100 students will receive a free Pitt soccer scarf.
