
#20 Pitt Drops Regular Season Finale at No. 5 Notre Dame Friday Night

SOUTH BEND, IN – The Pitt men's soccer team (6-5-4, 2-3-3 ACC) fell on the road Friday night to the ACC regular season champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 6-0.
With the loss, Pitt secured the No. 8 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament and will play host to No. 9 Louisville Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED – FIRST HALF
- Just over 30 seconds in Joao Souza got behind the Notre Dame backline and ripped a shot from the top of the box that just missed the right corner
- The Irish broke through with the first goal of the match in the 10th minute as Eno Nto converted on a Pitt turnover. He buried the ball into the right corner beating a sprawling Cabral Carter
- Pitt had a golden opportunity to tie the match in the 20th minute as Souza fed Albert Thorsen who crossed a perfect pass to Luis Sahmkow in front of the wide open goal but his right footed shot dribble just wide left of the goal
- In the 34th minute, Carter made a huge diving stop with his right hand to keep the score 1-0 in favor of Pitt
- Notre Dame took the 2-0 lead in the 39th minute as Matthew Roou beat Carter to the lower left corner for his 10th of the season
HOW IT HAPPENED – SECOND HALF
- The Irish made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute as Nto collected his second of the match as he redirected a long shot
- Nto netted his hat trick goal in the 65th minute as he was left alone in front and beat Carter to the right corner
- The fourth goal of the match for the Notre Dame forward came in the 73rd minute as he extended the Irish lead to 5-0
- Wyatt Borso netted his first of the season in the 84th minute to cap the scoring burst for the Irish in the second half
MATCH STATS
- For the match, Notre Dame held the 19-5 edge in shots and the 4-2 advantage in corner kicks
- Carter finished the match with six saves in goal
MATCH NOTES
- With the loss, Pitt is now just 7-21-5 against Notre Dame all-time including 0-3-2 against them over the past five meetings. Pitt also falls to 4-12-2 all-time in South Bend
- Carter saw his shutout streak end at 251:46 minutes which marks the sixth longest streak in program history by a keeper
