
Panthers Fight Until End; Fall At NC State In Regular Season Finale, 68-63

RALEIGH, NC – The Pitt women's basketball team (10-19, 3-15 ACC) hung tough on the road Sunday afternoon but fell in their regular season finale to NC State, 68-63. Pitt had four players score in double figures in the road loss.
Channise Lewis earned the start and finished with a team-high 14 points on 4-for-9 from three-point range while Liatu King finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Gabby Hutcherson had a strong game off the bench as she netted 11 points and eight rebounds while Amber Brown scored in double figures for the third straight game with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 33 minutes of work.

FIRST QUARTER
- After the Wolfpack opened the scoring with a jumper, Channise Lewis netted a triple and Liatu King made a free throw to give the Panthers the early 4-2 lead.
- NC State was able to take the 9-6 lead at the media timeout as Camille Hobby finished off a layup and free throw for the Wolfpack.
- Out of the media, Avery Strickland netted her first triple of the game to tie the score, 9-9, but the Wolfpack came right back with seven straight to take the 16-9 lead late in the first.
- Gabby Hutcherson took over down the stretch as she netted back-to-back triples and Amber Brown finished off a layup as Pitt went into the second quarter trailing NC State 20-17.
- Hutcherson finished with eight points in the first quarter, her highest scoring quarter of her career.
- Lewis netted her second triple of the game to open the scoring in the second and tie the game, 20-20, but the Wolfpack fought right back with seven straight to take the 27-20 lead.

- NC State responded once again to push their lead out to eight, 37-29, after a deep triple.
- The Panthers ended the quarter on a 7-3 run to make it 40-36 in favor of NC State through 20 minutes as Emy Hayford finished off a layup and Maliyah Johnson netted her first triple of the game.
- Pitt got within two, 42-40, early in the third quarter as Brown notched a rejection and was rewarded on the offensive end of the court with a layup to cut into the NC State lead.
- The Wolfpack came right back with the next six points to push their lead back to eight, 48-40, with 4:24 to play in the third.
- Out of the media timeout, Johnson finished off a layup and free throw and King netted a layup to bring Pitt within five, 50-45.

- After NC State made it a five-point game with a free throw, 65-60, Strickland made a layup through traffic to cut it down to a three-point game with two minutes to go.
- Pitt wasn't able to get any closer down the stretch as the Wolfpack held on to secure the 68-63 home win.
- Pitt finished the game shooting just 37.9% from the floor while the Wolfpack shot 39.7% in the win.
- NC State held the 44-33 edge in rebounds and the 15-9 lead in second chance points.
