The Panthers (8-8, 0-3 ACC) held the Blue Devils to 69 points – 12 off their previous season average of 81 but were unable to overcome 29 turnovers.
As a unit, Pitt limited Duke (12-3, 3-0 ACC) to just 6-for-16 shooting (37.5 percent) in the final period.
Individually, Faye continued her stellar season, logging a game-high 17 points, while junior guard Marley Washenitz had a solid all-around performance, registering seven points, four rebounds and three steals.
How It Happened
Duke opened the contest on a 7-0 run, but the Panthers immediately responded with a 7-2 spurt to pull within two at the 4:59 mark behind baskets from Washenitz, Faye and Johnson. After the media timeout, Duke closed the opening period with an 11-2 burst and led, 20-9, after 10 minutes of action.
The Blue Devils' full court press continued to suffocate Pitt's offensive attack as the Panthers were limited to just six points in the second frame.
