
Thomas McMahon, Camy Kiser Lead Pitt at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Pitt competed in the 51st Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, posting a 10th place men's team finish and 12th place women's team finish out of 40 teams in each field.
For the third consecutive meet, the men's team was led by Thomas McMahon. McMahon recorded an 8k personal best time of 23:34.4, for 18th place overall. This was McMahon's first time going sub-24 minutes in a collegiate 8k race. Luke Simpson was the next to cross the line for the Panthers, securing 47th place with a time of 24:01.0. Ethan Fingerhut, Nolan McGinn and Damian Frausto rounded out the top five for Pitt, with all recording new personal bests. Fingerhut stopped the clock in 24:10.3, McGinn shaved over 30 seconds off his previous best with a new standard of 24:23.4 and Frausto trimmed over one minute off his previous best with today's 24:23.8.
Camy Kiser was the first on the women's side to cross the finish line, en route to a new 6k personal best of 20:18.2, for a 28 second improvement from her previous best. The remaining nine Panthers in the race either ran their first collegiate 6k or recorded a personal best to pace the Panthers at the meet. It was the first 6k for freshmen Maureen Cheruiyot (20:52.2), Elena Barrall (21:38.1) and Camryn McGeehan (21:43.5). Ella Cook recorded a personal best of 21:00.7. Sarah Hurst, in her return to racing following an injury, tallied a personal best of 21:30.8. Alex Fleck and Gianna Cagliola ran a sub-22 minute time for the first times in their careers 21:31.9 for Fleck and 21:32.4 for Cagliola. Christina Elliott improved by 26 seconds with a new best of 22:02.0.
