
Pitt Primed for ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships

PITTSBURGH – 25 student-athletes will represent Pitt at the 2025 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Louisville. The conference competition kicks off Saturday, March 1 at 11 a.m. at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
COMPETING FOR THE PANTHERS
Women: Eva Baldursdottir (High Jump), Somiyah Braggs (60m), Jana Bruses (60mH), Je'Nyia Burton (200m, 400m, 4x400m), Sadie Carey-Tharp (5000m), Niya Crawford (Shot Put), Faith Dennis (60m, 4x400m), Caleia Johnson (200m, 400m, 4x400m), Norrah Lemongo (Shot Put, Weight Throw), Logan Neely (400m, 4x400m), Alesia Rengle (High Jump), Ilse Steigenga (Long Jump, Pentathlon)
Men: Mikhi Anderson (60mH, High Jump), Uri Arnon (Triple Jump), Nigel Hussey (60m, 200m, 4x400m), Antwan James (60mH), Thomas McDonough (200m), Darren McQueen Jr. (60m, 4x400m), Devin Nugent (400m, 4x400m), Sacha Quequin (Long Jump), Malik Ricketts (400m, 4x400m), Jaden Shelton (60mH), Luke Simpson (Mile, 3000m), Emeka Ugwu (Shot Put), Finn Walsh (Mile)
LAST TIME OUT – BU VALENTINE INVITATIONAL
The distance crew traveled to New England for the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, where 12 student-athletes recorded new personal bests.
- Luke Simpson moved into third in program history in the mile with his time of 4:02.52.
- Sadie Carey-Tharp was the top finisher for the Panthers in the 5,000-meter race with a personal best, 16:25.60. Carey-Tharp holds the fourth fastest time in that event in program history.
- Freshman Thomas McMahon competed in his first collegiate 5,000-meter race, recording a time of 14:19.52, fast enough to secure the sixth spot in program history.
- All four women who competed in the mile set new personal records. Most notably, Ella Cook and Gianna Cagliola went sub-5 minutes with times of 4:56.79 and 4:59.62, respectively.
LAST TIME OUT – CLEMSON TIGER PAW INVITATIONAL
- Je'Nyia Burton captured her second indoor school record, this time in the 400-meter race, as she also took the win in the event, crossing the line in 52.60. Burton holds the top 400-meter time in the conference entering the ACC Championship meet.
- Malik Ricketts continued his successful senior season with a personal best in the 400-meter race. He crossed the finish line in 46.55, a new personal best and the third fastest in program history. Ricketts has set personal bests in the 60-meter, 200-meter, 300-meter, and 400-meter races this indoor season.
