Bayless, Vilamitjana named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Volleyball's Blaire Bayless and men's soccer's Arnau Vilamitjana have been named Pitt's PNC Achievers of the Week for their standout performances over the past week.
Bayless helped lead the Panthers to a 2-0 week against No. 11 SMU, opening the road trip with 10 kills, a season-high five digs, one block and an assist while hitting .269 in the win in Dallas. She followed that effort with 12 kills, four digs and three blocks in Sunday's four-set victory at the Petersen Events Center, helping Pitt secure back-to-back top-15 wins and a 2-0 start to ACC play.
Vilamitjana scored the equalizer in the 12th minute as the Panthers earned a 1-1 draw against No. 1 NC State on Friday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field. After the top-ranked Wolfpack struck in the second minute, freshman defender Jacob Redenfors delivered a corner kick to the far post, where Vilamitjana broke free off a pick and headed home his team-leading fifth goal of the season. The tally brought his team-high point total to 13.
