PITTSBURGH - Pitt women's lacrosse checks in as the No. 25 ranked team in the nation, as was announced by the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll Monday morning. The Panthers have previously received votes in the poll, but Monday marks the first time the fifth-year program has earned the distinction.
Pitt has entered the national picture thanks to two wins to start the season. First, the Panthers traveled to Columbus and beat Ohio State 13-10. The season-opening victory was backed up by a 17-10 wire-to-wire win over then No. 14 Duke at Highmark Stadium. This year marks the second time Pitt has started their season 2-0 and the first since the inaugural season in 2022.
Wednesday's contest at Penn State now becomes a ranked matchup, as the Nittany Lions remain in the poll at No. 23. Pitt and Penn State will play at 5 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on B1G+.
