Pitt Welcomes No.14 Duke for Home Opener

PITTSBURGH – Pitt lacrosse is set to host No. 14 Duke on Thursday, Feb. 12, for its home opener at Highmark Stadium. Action is set for 2 p.m.
The Panthers enter the matchup 1-0 after defeating Ohio State in their 2026 debut on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Pitt moved to 5-0 in season openers.
LAST TIME OUT
Pitt took down the Buckeyes, 13-10, on the road, led by Paige Telatovich with four goals and a hat trick from Avery Moon (+plus three assists). Three more Panthers recorded their first career goals, while goalie Molly Cain notched her 200th career save to become the program's all-time leader. After a back-and-forth three periods, the Panthers took control in the final frame with three goals and held off a late Ohio State push to secure the win.
SCOUTING DUKE
The Blue Devils enter the matchup 1-0 after earning a 14-6 road win at High Point on Friday. Duke opens the 2026 season following a 14-6 overall record last year, advancing to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals and finishing No. 9 in the IWLCA poll.
MATCHUP HISTORY
The Panthers are 0-4 all-time against the Blue Devils, with the two teams most recently meeting last April in Pittsburgh. Duke earned a 14-10 win, while Pitt was led by Kaitlyn Giandonato with three goals. The Panthers also turned in a strong effort on their transition game, finishing perfect on clear attempts.
