THE OPENING TIP
-
With just three games remaining in the regular season, Pitt looks to make a final surge towards an ACC Tournament spot as the Panthers close out their west coast swing at Cal Saturday at 4 p.m. EST (1 p.m. PST).
-
Chris Sylvester and Jerod Haase will be on the call for the ACC Network.
-
The game will also be broadcast on the Panthers Radio Network (flagship 93.7 The Fan) with Bill Hillgrove (play-by-play) and Curtis Aiken (analysis) providing the commentary.
-
Pitt sits in a three-way tie with Notre Dame and Boston College for the final spot in the ACC Tournament. The Panthers have a win over Notre Dame, but a loss to Boston College. Since Boston College and Notre Dame close out the regular season against each other, Pitt needs at least one more win for a chance to qualify for the tournament.
-
Pitt and Cal are tied 2-2 in the all-time series with Pitt winning last year's game, the first as ACC foes, 86-74 inside Petersen Events Center. The series began in 1949 with a 55-37 Cal victory but the Panthers have won both meetings in the 21st century.
-
Senior Cameron Corhen has been a force of late, averaging 19.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game over the last three contests.
