Pittman, Smink Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Kyra Pittman of softball and Eddie Smink of baseball have been named Pitt's PNC Achievers of the Week following standout performances last week.
Pittman played a pivotal role in leading Pitt to a series victory over NC State, earning wins in both of her appearances. The right-hander opened the weekend with a complete-game performance, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out a career-high six batters and issuing only one walk.
Pittman returned in the series finale to secure the series-clinching victory, tossing 3.2 innings of relief. Pittman allowed just one earned run and one walk while shutting down the Wolfpack in extra innings, retiring three of four batters to seal the win for the Panthers.On the weekend, Pittman combined for two wins while limiting NC State to just two runs across 10.2 innings of work.
Smink helped the Panthers clinch a series win at Stanford on Sunday with a stellar performance in relief . Out of the bullpen, Smink threw 5.1 innings, allowing just one run on five hits while not walking a single batter. The Panthers rode him from the bottom of the fourth inning until the final out in the ninth. When Pitt needed a steady presence on the mound, Smink delivered and kept the Cardinal bats at bay for the remainder of the afternoon. Pitt's series victory over Stanford last weekend was the first time since 2021 that the Panthers won their opening ACC series.
