Pitt Men Prepare for NCAA Championship
3/24/2026 5:00:00 PM | Swimming & Diving
ATLANTA, Ga. — Pitt will send seven athletes across swimming and diving to Georgia Tech this week when the NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships begin Wednesday, March 25.
Julian Koch headlines the swimming contingent as Pitt's lone individual qualifier on the men's side. The school-record holder in the 100 and 200 freestyle will compete in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly. Koch enters with the program's all-time bests in the 100 free (41.15) and 200 free (1:33.21), both set at the Texas Invitational in November. In addition to his individual events, Koch will swim as part of Pitt's relay contingent alongside Merlin Belmon, James Allison, Alan Vergine, and Evan Witte.
On the boards, Noah Bernard qualified in all three diving disciplines — the 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform — while Chase Marafioto earned berths in the 1-meter and platform, both qualifying at the NCAA Zone A Championships.
Competition runs Wednesday through Saturday at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the Georgia Tech campus.
