Panthers Clash with the Cardinals in Louisville

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers (17-6, 3-3 ACC) head to Louisville, KY this weekend for their third ACC series of the season. It's the first time since 2017 that the Panthers will visit the Louisville Cardinals (16-9, 3-3 ACC).
Pitt won each of their non-conference games this week, going on the road to beat Kent State, 13-4, before walking-off Youngstown State at home on Wednesday, 8-7.
Top of the Order
• OF Lorenzo Carrier is one of the best hitters in the country through the first six weeks of the season. He leads the country in SLG (1.000), ranks 2nd the country in RBI (47), OBP (.644) and walks (31), and is sixth in the nation in AVG (.455). He was named by D1Baseball as the No. 1 outfielder in the country through the first six weeks of the season.
• Pitt's offense is off to a scorching start. They lead the country in base on balls (186), rank second in HR per game (2.22), fourth in scoring (10.4), home runs (51) and OBP (.465), and sixth in SLG (.580).
• Pitt leads the entire country in walks this season with 186 heading into the weekend. Lorenzo Carrier has walked 31 times, ranking second in the country and second in the ACC.
• The Panther offense has slugged 43 home runs in their last 17 games. They have driven in 83 runs via the long ball, hitting five grand slams and ten three-run home runs.
• The Panthers took Saturday's game over No. 3 Georgia Tech, 14-9, this past weekend. It was their first win over a top five team since 2023.
• Lorenzo Carrier won nearly every national weekly award for his performance at the plate in the fourth week of the season. Carrier was named the Golden Spikes National Player of the Week, Dick Howser Trophy National Co-Hitter of the Week, Perfect Game National Player of the Week, ACC Player of the Week and was named to Baseball America's National Team of the Week.
