QUICK NOTES
- The 2026 ACC Wrestling Championship begins Sunday, March 8, with first-round action at 10 a.m. ET. Championship finals are scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and will air live on ACC Network, with earlier rounds streaming on ACC Network Extra.
- Pitt secured two No. 1 seeds, led by Luca Augustine (174 pounds) and Chase Kranitz (184 pounds), both of whom enter the championship at the top of their respective brackets. The Panthers are one of four programs in the league to place multiple wrestlers as top seeds.
- Augustine went 6-0 in ACC duals to earn the No. 1 seed at 174 pounds, while Kranitz earned a No. 1 seed at 184 pounds after compiling 5-1 in ACC duals. His only loss in conference was to Jake Dailey from North Carolina.
- Pitt's two returning ACC Champions, Mac Stout (197 pounds) and Dayton Pitzer (285 pounds), earned No. 2 seeds in their weight classes. Stout and Pitzer are among six former ACC champions in the 2026 championship field and four defending champions overall.
- Last season, Pitt finished second overall in the team standings and crowned three champions, matching their best team finish since joining the ACC.
- Pitt returns six of its eight NCAA qualifiers from last season, with four wrestlers seeking a qualification to their first NCAA Championship: Tyler Chappell (125), Evan Tallmadge (133), Kade Brown (149), and Chase Kranitz (184).
- 15 of Pitt's 22 ACC individual champions have been coached by Keith Gavin. The only weight class in which Pitt has not won an ACC title is at 125 pounds.
