Panthers Clash with the No. 10 Cavaliers

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers (25-14, 7-11 ACC) host the no. 10 ranked Virginia Cavaliers (29-13, 12-9 ACC) this weekend at Charles L. Cost Field.
Pitt is coming off of a 23-1 win at No. 12 West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl on Tuesday night.
Top of the Order
• Pitt's 23 runs in the Backyard Brawl on Tuesday were their second-most against West Virginia, and the second most in the history of the Backyard Brawl.
• The Panther offense set the program record for home runs in a single season with 82 this year. They have driven in 154 runs via the long ball, hitting seven grand slams and eighteen three-run home runs this year. Pitt's previous home run mark was 79 in 2022.
• SS Caden Dulin has recorded a hit in each of the last 19 games. He is batting .369 with 47 runs scored, 37 RBI, 10 doubles, 10 home runs and a team-leading 55 hits. Dulin was named as a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award this week.
• The Oakland Lumber Company is open for business and Pitt's offense is one of the best in the country. They lead the nation in base on balls (290), rank second in OBP (.457), third in scoring (9.6), fifth in home runs (82), home runs per game (2.10) and SLG (.573), sixth in runs scored (376) and ninth in batting average (.320).
• Lorenzo Carrier ranks second in the country in walks (46), third in walks/game (1.18), fourth in OBP (.554), fifth in SLG (.823), ninth in RBI/game (1.44), and twelfth in RBI (56). He earned multiple midseason First Team All-America honors and was named to the Golden Spikes Award and Baseball America
Player of the Year Midseason Watch Lists.
• Pitt took one game from Virginia Tech this past weekend - doing so in comeback fashion. They have now won five games this season when they were trailing or tied in the ninth inning.
• Pitt leads the entire country in walks this season with 290. OF Lorenzo Carrier's 46 free passes lead the ACC and rank second in the nation. The Panthers worked a season-high 15 walks in Tuesday's win at no. 12 West Virginia.
