PITTSBURGH – Pitt volleyball head coach Dan Fisher has announced a title change for Kellen Petrone, elevating him from associate head coach/recruiting coordinator to associate head coach/team architect. Petrone was promoted to his previous role prior to the 2023 campaign after spending nine seasons as an assistant coach and director of operations.
"In the rapidly changing landscape of collegiate athletics, we felt it was appropriate to give Coach Petrone a title that is more befitting of the job he is actually performing," says head coach Dan Fisher. "We're thankful for the continued support of the administration giving us the opportunity to compete at the highest level. Kellen will continue to be a big part of it."
Petrone, the 2023 AVCA National Assistant Coach of the Year, has been part of five consecutive National Semifinal appearances and seven ACC Championships. He has served as the defensive coordinator for the past three seasons, leading the Panthers to some of the top opponent hitting percentage and blocking numbers in the country.
"Team architect is an accurate reflection of my role - helping design rosters, build systems and construct the kind of program that competes at the highest level year after year," Petrone says. "I'm grateful to Coach Fisher and the administration for providing the resources and creating a role that matches the mission."
