Pitt To Open 2026 Season Ranked No. 4 Nationally

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt volleyball team was ranked No. 4 in the country in the AVCA -Teraflex Division I Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll. The Panthers received 1,383 poll points and was the highest ranked Atlantic Coast Conference school.

It marks the fourth straight year in which the Panthers are ranked in the top five to open the season and sixth straight year to be ranked in the top 10 in the preseason. It is the ninth consecutive year that Pitt is ranked among the top 10 in the country at some point during the season.
Nebraska enters the season ranked No. 1 in the country with 1,568 points and 57 of the 63 first place votes. Texas was No. 2 with 1,427 points and one first place vote, while Kentucky was third with 1,398 points and four first place votes. Following Pitt at No. 4 was Stanford, Wisconsin and Louisville. Texas A&M, the defending national champions, earned one first place vote and was picked eighth, while Purdue and Penn State rounded out the top 10.
Pitt will open the 2026 regular season at the AVCA First Serve Showcase in Milwaukee, Wisc. against No. 3 Kentucky. The Panthers will then host No. 15 Kansas and No. 6 Wisconsin in the Opening Spike Classic Aug. 28-30 inside the Petersen Events Center.
The Panthers will play at No. 24 BYU on Sept. 4 and will meet No. 22 Tennessee in the Shriner's Children's Showdown at the Net on Sept. 9 at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Kissimmee, Fla.
In ACC play, Pitt will play No. 5 Stanford twice, No. 7 Louisville, No. 11 SMU twice and No. 19 North Carolina.

Pitt Volleyball 2026 season tickets are sold out. Fans interested in attending matches this season can join the single-match ticket interest list to be notified when tickets become available.
Non-conference single-match tickets go on sale tomorrow, August 11, while conference single-match tickets will be announced at a later date.
