PITTSBURGH – Pitt Men's Basketball Head Coach Jeff Capel has announced the hiring of two Pitt alums to fill out his coaching staff for the 2026-27 season. Ricardo Greer, a 2001 Pitt graduate, has been named associate head coach and Ronald Ramón, a 2008 Pitt graduate, has been named assistant coach. Additionally, Billy Hubly has been promoted from assistant athletic director of scouting to an assistant coach.
"Ricardo, Ronald and Billy each bring something special to our program," Capel said. "Ricardo and Ronald are Pitt men. They've lived this program, they've competed at the highest level, and they understand what it means to wear Pitt on your chest. Billy has been an invaluable part of what we've built here over the last three years, and his promotion is well-deserved. Together, we have assembled a staff that will elevate every aspect of our program."
Ricardo Greer
Ricardo Greer returns to Pitt as associate head coach for the Pitt men's basketball program, bringing with him an impressive résumé as one of the most decorated players in Panther history and a wealth of professional and coaching experience.
A 2001 Pitt graduate, Greer was a standout forward for the Panthers from 1997–2001, finishing his collegiate career among the school's all-time leaders in scoring and rebounding. A two-time All-Big East selection and the 1999–2000 Big East Most Improved Player, he averaged more than 18 points per game as a junior and nearly 17 as a senior, leading Pitt through one of its most successful eras in the Big East. During his tenure, he became one of the program's most versatile four-year starters and earned multiple conference honors.
Following his Pitt career, Greer enjoyed a long and accomplished professional playing career internationally, playing for top level teams in France, Ukraine, Croatia and Great Britain. He was named first team all-league in the French Pro-A league three times, is a five-time French Pro-League All-Star and won the Pro A League MVP in 2010. He also led his teams to championships in 2005 and 2008, earning Finals MVP honors for the first title.
Greer began his coaching career at UCF in 2015 as the director of player development before being hired as an assistant coach at Dayton in 2017. He was promoted to associate head coach in May of 2021, a role he retained until his return to Pitt.

Ronald Ramón
Ronald Ramón returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach for the Pitt men's basketball program, bringing with him a strong blend of coaching experience, professional playing success, and a deep understanding of Panther basketball.
A 2008 Pitt graduate and former standout guard, Ramón most recently spent the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Iona under Head Coach Dan Geriot. The Gaels went 18-14, their best record since 2022-23, with an emphasis on making and defending the deep ball. The team ranked among the top 50 in three-pointers made in the country, while also ranking No. 31 nationally in three-point defense.
Prior to his season at Iona, Ramón spent five years on staff at Fordham, where he helped guide one of the most significant program turnarounds in recent college basketball. During his tenure (2020–25), the Rams posted multiple historic milestones, highlighted by a 25-8 campaign in 2022-23, a third-place Atlantic 10 finish, and a run to the conference tournament semifinals. Fordham also recorded consecutive Atlantic 10 Tournament victories and posted a 14-win improvement in Ramon's first season on staff. The Rams' defense ranked among the nation's best in 2020-21, finishing 41st nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, the highest rating in program history.
Ramón began his coaching career at Pitt in 2019 as assistant director of basketball operations, where he worked closely with the program in areas of recruiting, alumni relations, and day-to-day operations.
As a player at Pitt from 2004-08, Ramón was a key contributor to one of the most successful eras in program history. The Panthers compiled a 101-35 record during his career, advancing to four NCAA Tournaments and winning the 2008 Big East Tournament title at Madison Square Garden. Ramón finished his career with 1,096 points and ranks among Pitt's all-time leaders in three-point shooting, sitting fourth in made three-pointers (233) and seventh in percentage (.395). He earned Big East All-Freshman Team honors in 2005 and shot a career-best 45.1 percent from three-point range as a junior.
Following his collegiate career, Ramón played 11 professional seasons throughout South America, competing in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Venezuela. He also represented the Dominican Republic National Team for a decade, competing in multiple international tournaments, including the FIBA World Cups in 2014 and 2019.
Off the court, Ramón is widely respected for his passion for mentorship and player development. He and his wife, Reba, a former Pitt softball All-Big East performer, are the parents of two sons, Ronald Jr. and Raiden.
Billy Hubly has been on staff at Pitt since July of 2023 as the assistant athletic director of scouting and has been promoted to assistant coach. Prior to his time at Pitt, Hubly spent five seasons on the staff at South Florida.
Over the past three years at Pitt, Hubly has provided oversight and management for all aspects of scouting videos as well as team and student-athlete operations, communication and development. This included film exchange, video capture, editing, production, equipment maintenance, and support for coaches and student-athletes. He also served as the primary liaison to areas such as academics, student-athlete housing, financial aid, equipment, and team travel logistics.
Hubly joined the USF staff in 2018 as director of player development before transitioning to a video/social media coordinator role. He also spent three seasons (2016-18) at East Carolina, where he served as the video coordinator for two seasons before being promoted to assistant coach for the 2017-18 campaign.
Hubly also worked as the video coordinator at Georgia Tech during the 2015-16 season after spending two seasons with the Yellow Jackets as a graduate assistant coach.
