Pitt Visits No. 2 North Carolina in Chapel Hill

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers (28-18, 10-14 ACC) will travel to Chapel Hill, NC this weekend for a three-game set with the No. 2 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels (37-9-1, 17-7 ACC).
The Panthers took a game from the Tar Heels last season when they came to Pittsburgh. It will be Pitt's first trip to North Carolina since 2024.
Top of the Order
• With two more wins, Pitt will eclipse the 30-win mark for the first time under Mike Bell, and the first time since joining the ACC. The Panthers have won 29 games twice since joining the ACC (2018 & 2022).
• The Oakland Lumber Company is open for business and Pitt's offense is one of the best in the country. They lead the nation in base on balls (322), rank fourth in OBP (.443), seventh in SLG (.557) and home runs per game (2.00), eighth in home runs (92) and scoring (9.0), tenth in runs scored (416) and sixteenth in batting average (.310).
• The Panther offense set the program record for home runs in a single season with 92 this year. They have driven in 170 runs via the long ball, hitting seven grand slams and nineteen three-run home runs this year. Pitt's previous home run mark was 79 in 2022.
• SS Caden Dulin was named as a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award which is given to the nation's most outstanding shortstop. During ACC play, Dulin is hitting .425 with 45 hits, 24 RBI, 24 runs scored, seven home runs, seven doubles and 73 total bases.
• OF Lorenzo Carrier ranks fifth in the country in walks (50), fifth in OBP (.540), sixth in walks/game (1.09) and seventh in SLG (.821) while ranking seventeenth in RBI (61). He is closing in on single-season program records for home runs, walks and RBI.
• Carrier earned multiple midseason First Team All-America honors and was named to the Golden Spikes Award and Baseball America Player of the Year Midseason Watch Lists. He was recently named as one of the nine semifinalists for the Tony Gwynn Community Service Trophy.
• Pitt leads the entire country in walks this season with 322. Lorenzo Carrier's 50 free passes lead the ACC and rank fifth in the nation. The program record for walks in a single season is 326, set in 2023. For an individual, the record is 57 which was set in 2024 by Luke Cantwell.
