The party outside Acrisure Stadium is getting louder. Pitt Athletics is turning up the pregame atmosphere this season with new and expanded game day offerings across the stadium's exterior footprint, giving fans even more reasons to get to the North Shore early.
The 2026 season brings a reimagined Roc'n on Rooney presented by RE/MAX Select Realty on Art Rooney Avenue, a can't-miss lineup of family programming, live concerts at select games, upgraded gathering spaces and turnkey tailgating on the Great Lawn.
Kickoff is no longer the start of the fun. It is just the next chapter.
Roc'n on Rooney Levels Up
Pitt's signature pregame fan fest is back and better, with Roc'n on Rooney presented by RE/MAX Select Realty anchoring the exterior experience on Art Rooney Avenue.
The fun starts three hours before kickoff at every home game and the energy does not let up, with an evolving lineup of entertainment, vendors, sponsor activations, lawn games and family fun.
New this season, Pitt is rolling out a dedicated kids zone on the turf field next to Art Rooney Avenue, packed with Pitt-themed inflatables, games and activities built for the next generation of Panther fans. The lineup changes week to week, so there is always something new to check out.
The Sept. 12 Kids Day matchup against UCF features an expanded kids tailgate with Kona Ice, the Hoops Pittsburgh basketball trailer, inflatables and face painting.
Roc'n on Rooney is also bringing the concert experience to Pitt Football, with live entertainment taking the stage on the south end of Art Rooney Avenue at three home games.
Pittsburgh-based band The Commonheart headlines the "Party on the North Shore" ahead of Pitt's Thursday night showdown with Syracuse on Sept. 17. DJs C. Scott and Moemaw bring the beats before the Bucknell game on Sept. 26, and the Bastard Bearded Irishmen close out the concert slate ahead of Pitt's Oct. 10 clash with North Carolina.
And the good times keep rolling at Franco's, where fans can grab food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages, and catch college football action from around the country before heading into Acrisure Stadium.
Panther Prowl Roars Back to Art Rooney Avenue
Fans should stake their spot about two and a half hours before kickoff for one of game day's best traditions: the Panther Prowl and the arrival of the Pitt Football team.
The Panthers make their entrance to Acrisure Stadium in style, escorted by the Pitt Marching Band and Pitt Spirit Teams as fans line the route to send the team into battle.
A Different Party Every Week
No two game days look the same. Pitt is building game-specific themes and activities into Roc'n on Rooney all season long, so there is always a fresh reason to show up early.
Sept. 5: The home opener against Miami (Ohio) kicks off with Ribfest taking over Art Rooney Avenue.
Sept. 12: Kids Day against UCF brings the expanded kids tailgate to life.
Sept. 17: "Party on the North Shore" against Syracuse, headlined by The Commonheart and an expanded kids zone.
Sept. 26: Homecoming against Bucknell adds a mobile golf simulator and closest-to-the-pin competition to the mix, with live entertainment from C. Scott and Moemaw and the kids zone back in action.
Oct. 10: North Carolina comes to town for a celebration 50 years in the making, marking the golden anniversary of Pitt's 1976 national championship team alongside an Ireland-themed party tied to the Aer Lingus College Football Classic. The Bastard Bearded Irishmen take the stage as Pitt football history takes center stage on Art Rooney Avenue.
Oct. 31: Halloween hits the North Shore when Georgia Tech visits for a Hail to Heroes/Halloween celebration featuring trick-or-treating, the kids zone and a lineup of military and first responder vehicles and organizations.
Nov. 13: Senior Day against Florida State closes out the exterior schedule in style, with the kids zone and additional sponsor and fan activities capping off the regular-season home finale.
