THE STORYLINE
An athletic shot blocker and tremendous leaper with excellent quickness, Tyrone Haughton is a defensive standout who is a solid rebounder and brings rim protection and shot blocking skills to the Panthers. A junior college transfer from Iowa Western Community College, Haughton is long and bouncy and has the unique ability to change the game on either end of the floor. He also brings tremendous energy on both ends of the floor, is a great shot blocker and continues to improve on the offensive end. His best quality is that he will continue to get better, bigger and stronger.
2013-14 AT IOWA WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he was coached by Jim Morris...Two-time All-Region XI Second Team honoree...In his two seasons, led the Reivers to a combined 55-11 overall record, 32 consecutive weeks ranked in the NJCAA top-25 poll, captured Region XI and District XI titles...Two-year starter...As a sophomore, led Iowa Western to a 23-8 overall record, a season-best No. 3 national ranking a Region XI semifinal finish and rankings in all 17 weeks of the national poll...Concluded his two-year career as the school's all-time leading shot blocker with 185 total blocks...Averaged 3.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game...Also shot 55 percent (66-111) from the floor...Ranked as the nation's No. 31 junior college center prospect by ESPNU...Ranked among the nation's top-50 junior college players by nextrecruits.com in August 2013 (No. 29).
