Shannon Jacobs
- Title:
- Sports Nutrition Fellow (MBB, WBB)
Shannon Jacobs joined the University of Pittsburgh Department of Athletics in April of 2021 as a Basketball Performance Fellow.
Prior to joining Pitt, Jacobs was a Performance Dietitian Intern at Mississippi State University where she worked with the men’s basketball team. Jacobs was the first dietitian to work one-on-one with them through an entire season. She provided upgrades to their overall nutrition by adding a fueling cart that provided snacks for each macronutrient category and incorporated a fueling fridge in their weight room that provided fresh fruit, hydration, and post-recovery needs. Prior to that, Jacobs interned at a powered by EXOS facility where she primarily worked with the Joe-Gibbs NASCAR pit crew.
Jacobs graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2013 with her first Bachelors of Science Degree in Health Science with Human Health Concentration. After finding her passion in nutrition she then went back to school for her second Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics where she gradated in 2018. She completed her Masters of Science degree and dietetic internship in May of 2020 from East Tennessee State University.
As a small town Tennessee native, Jacobs is excited to be in Pittsburgh fueling the Panthers.
