Chris Gilman joined the University of Pittsburgh athletic department in December of 2012 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. He directs the sport performance development of softball, gymnastics, and men’s soccer programs, along with coordinating the strength and conditioning internship program.
During his time at Pitt, Gilman has helped guide the softball program to it first ever NCAA tournament berth in 2015. He also played a key role in the gymnastics program winning its first EAGL championship in program history in 2016.
Prior to arriving at Pitt, Gilman was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Villanova University. While with the Wildcats, Gilman Worked with both Football and Olympic sport programs. He has also coached at the University of Tennessee and University of North Texas.
Gilman served two-years as a graduate assistant football coach at Clarion University, where he earned a master’s degree in education. He was responsible for coaching the wide receivers and directing the strength and conditioning development for football.
A 2006 graduate of Edinboro University with a bachelor of science degree in health and physical education. Gilman was a 4-year letter winner and member of two conference championships as a football player and he also was a sprinter and long jumper for the track and field program.
A Hilliards, Pa., native, Gilman resides in Butler.

Watching Pitt play Florida State at home in its inaugural season opener of the ACC in 2013.

Tessaro’s in Bloomfield. They have some of the best steaks and burgers in the city.
